I told them that I'd be happy to take them to lunch after they finished their tour of the possible filming locations. At the foot of Ramon Drive, which is right up against the mountain, there's a great restaurant called Melvyn's where the rich and famous go when they visit Palm Springs. The waiter was very sensitive to his clientele and knew exactly how to react when they came to eat.

I'd become friends with Brian and we got along very, very well. When I learned that the Good Morning America team was going to be in Palm Springs, I called him and said, "I tried to reserve a table at IHOP, but they were full, and I figured the next best thing would be to bring them to your restaurant for lunch." Of course, when we got there, the restaurant was crowded, but he'd a table reserved for us. When we sat down, we got the menus from IHOP - Brian had gone to IHOP, grabbed some of the menus, and inserted Melvyn's menu into the IHOP menu.
